First Houdini Projects

Houdini

Donut with sprinkles

My first project was to create a simple classic of every 3D software (A donut). I made the donut model procedurally using Houdini’s node system and created a physics based particle simulation for the sprinkles

Rigid Body + FLIP fluid simulation

Next, I made a animation which consisted of switching from a rigid body simulation into a fluid simulation. This really helped to give me a more in-depth view on how Houdini works

Rigid Body destruction

This render consisted of destroying a model with an impacting object. I learned how fracturing works in Houdini as well as how velocity and physics are carried object to object. I also got a greater understanding of rendering inside of Houdini’s new render engine (Karma)

Softbody simulation

This project was the first where i managed to do everything on my own. I wasn’t looking on creating a pretty render, but more to gain an understanding of how softbody’s work with the dozens of settings available. I decided to create a simple ‘course’ which the softbody ball would roll through

Cracking cubes

This is is one of my favourite renders just because of how cool the inside of the cube looks when it has been cracked. I used simple fracturing and rigid body simulation to create the cracking effect when hitting the ground
